Board of Visitors Flower Girls Serve UMOM Children

The Board of Visitors Flower Girls gathered recently to donate their time and talent to UMOM New Day Centers. The young women planned a Western-themed party for the children served by UMOM, and helped them decorate keepsake melamine plates.

“This event at UMOM New Day Centers provides a wonderful opportunity for us to educate these young women about UMOM and how The Board of Visitors supports charities in our community,” said Prue Brito, chair, Board of Visitors chair.

The Board of Visitors was established in 1908 and has donated more than $15 million to serve the health care needs of women, children and the elderly in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area. In 2012, The Board of Visitors has donated more than $1 million to charities in the Valley.

UMOM’s mission is to provide homeless families and individuals with safe shelter, housing and supportive services to assist them in reaching their greatest potential. Every night, UMOM provides shelter for 154 families through emergency and transitional shelter programs. Each year, the organization helps more than 6,000 homeless children and adults. UMOM assists 300-plus additional families in obtaining permanent, affordable housing through UMOM’s five housing communities located across the Valley.
