Champion’s Dinner

The Baller Dream Foundation‘s inaugural Champion’s Dinner was hosted by Bret and Shelly Brimley at their private residence in Scottsdale on May 1. The sold-out event counted 250 guests in attendance.

The Baller Dream Foundation was founded in 2013 by Frank DeBlasi after he beat testicular cancer. The nonprofit’s mission is to lift the spirits of children, young adults and their families battling cancer. Those they serve are not called patients or beneficiaries. They are referred to as “Ballers.” A modern-day term that suggests one is doing well, feeling well and in control. These “Ballers” are incredibly resilient, courageous and deserving of recognition.

The purpose of the evening was to bring awareness to The Baller Dream Foundation in its hometown and celebrate three Ballers into the Ballerhood. At dinner, Calvin Holthusen, Delilah Capellan and Maci Lee Grannis had the option to choose between two gifts presented by their Baller sponsors.

Champion’s Dinner, executed and managed by Personalized Solutions, showcased live music by Jonathan Levingston. Guests enjoyed a buffet catered by Benedict’s Catering & Events. Mark Candelaria showed off one of his acclaimed culinary specialties: a seafood paella.
