Centennial Legacy Luncheon

About 600 people gathered at the Phoenician Resort for the luncheon to honor Arizona’s 48 Intriguing Women. In celebration of Arizona’s centennial year, the women were selected for the impact they are making on their communities and state.

Among the honorees in attendance were Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Cindy McCain, Kimberly Yee, Jeanne Herberger and Jacquie Dorrance. Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton addressed the women, thanking them for their contributions and the impact they have made on Arizona.

Former ambassador and current interim president of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Barbara Barrett, delivered the keynote address. Barrett was also among the 48 women.

Lin Sue Cooney, 12 News anchor, served as the emcee for the luncheon, and TV hosts Tara Hitchcock and Pat McMahon honored the women by sharing their stories. Celebrity manicurist and accomplished jazz singer Deborah Lippman sang a special tribute to the women.

Also honored were three students from elementary, middle and high school who won an essay contest describing the Arizona woman who most inspires them.
