65 Roses and Fine Wine Gala

The March 10 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation gala was held at the Sanctuary Resort. Chairs Nick Firestone and Lou Werner orchestrated a successful evening of wine tasting, live music, a mystery box raffle, silent auction and dinner that yielded net proceeds of $210,000 for research and cystic fibrosis care centers nationwide. Two of the centers are in Arizona, one at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and one at the University Medical Hospital in Tucson.

Among the 172 guests was Ken Lowe, CEO of Food Network – just the kind of person to enjoy the gourmet menu, each course with its own wine pairing. Guitarist Joe Forbush provided the entertainment. Letitia Frye served as emcee and auctioneer in a live auction of vineyard and wine experiences.

The evening’s honorees included the Flynn family and Drs. Carole and Robert Griego. Bob and Gina Flynn have been involved with the foundation for almost 30 years, when their son was diagnosed with the disease. The Griegos have three children, David, Jennifer and Timmy. Jennifer, 10, has cystic fibrosis.

National Bank of Arizona sponsored the evening.
