Valley Leadership’s “Pivot Toward Impact” Movement Gets $1 Million Shot in the Arm
Valley Leadership now has $1 million to employ as it tackles its latest, and arguably largest, task — transforming its own programming into that which inspires necessary, effective and long-term change for Arizona.
The cultural shift, collectively titled, “Pivot Toward Impact,” seeks to refocus Valley Leadership’s efforts from training the next generation of leaders to developing a strong leadership culture within state lines, and five philanthropic partners have come together to help fund the effort.
Arizona Community Foundation, Helios Education Foundation, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust and Vitalyst Health Foundation are among those dedicating time and resources to the endeavor, which includes a comprehensive overhaul of Valley Leadership programming to allow for deeper engagement with alumni and partners, stronger, more effective community partnerships and collaborations, and related efforts that together exact real change with regard for some of the state’s most pressing issues.
“At the heart of successfully helping our communities improve health and well-being is the need for all of us to move outside of traditional boundaries, understand our common goals and collaborate across sectors,” said Suzanne Pfister, President & CEO of Vitalyst Health Foundation. “Valley Leadership’s pivot is a key opportunity to do just that, and we are excited to play a part.”
In addition to the $1 million investment from philanthropic partners, Valley Leadership’s own board of directors has committed to helping fund the endeavor, which includes the launch of a “Valley Impact Makers” team tasked with encouraging necessary change throughout Arizona. Impact Maker team members include Valley Leadership representatives, members of partner organizations and other key stakeholders looking to make a sizable impact within the state.
“We’re tremendously grateful for the support, both financial and otherwise, our philanthropic partners have had for Pivot Toward Impact,” said David Brown, chief executive officer for Valley Leadership. “If just one person can make a difference, imagine what we can do when we bring the state’s best and brightest minds together for the benefit of us all?”
