36th Annual Duet Cabaret Nets $115K
More than 350 guests attended the 36th Annual Duet Cabaret at the Omni Scottsdale Resort at Montelucia on April 30. The event netted more than $115,000. The funds will go directly toward the mission of Duet: Partners in Health & Aging to promote health and well-being through a broad range of services to homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities and grandparents raising grandchildren.
The gala included entertainment from the Swingtips, and Blaise Lantana, music director and radio host at KJZZ radio, served as the emcee. Rabbi Marty Scharf, former Duet board vice president, served as the auctioneer for the live auction. Honorary chairs Kathleen and John Graham of Sunbelt Holdings presented the Duet Partners of the Year Award to Jacques, Loretta, Brittany and Bryant Avent for their work in, and dedication to, spreading awareness about grandparents raising grandchildren and the support available to them.
“Brittany and Bryant co-authored a book and established a scholarship fund at Arizona State University for these children,” Elizabeth Banta, executive director, said. “They were the perfect fit.”
Banta also thanked attendees and sponsors for providing funds to help for grandfamilies as well as older adults and their families as they cope with health and aging challenges.
Sponsors for the 2017 Duet Cabaret included Fry’s Food Stores, Nationwide, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Ellen Dean Financial Services, John and Kathleen Graham and SRP, in addition to Arizona Lottery, Joyce Glazner, Nicole and David Lynch, North Phoenix Pediatric Dentistry and Skyline Builders & Restoration, Inc.
