15th Annual Teaming Up For Girls

Florence Crittenton celebrated its 15th Annual Teaming Up for Girls Luncheon with more than 750 guests at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. The March 16 event raised in excess of $430,000.

The luncheon featured gymnast Simone Biles, All-Around World Champion, Olympic gold medalist and foster-care advocate, who shared her story of resiliency and victory. Jen Bricker, author, acrobat and aerialist who was born without legs, was honored with the HOPE (Head start, Opportunity, Positive future and Education) Award for empowering young girls with the message that anything is possible.

The Visionary Award was presented to Darlene Shephard, who has dedicated more than 40 years of her life to volunteering at the agency. The Visionary Award is not awarded every year and only is given to a dynamic leader who is inspirational to other and a trailblazer in community involvement.

News anchor Heather Moore, 3TV, served as the event emcee. Cathy Stein and Tahnia McKeever co-chaired the luncheon. Funds raised directly support Florence Crittenton’s core programs, including its Therapeutic Group Home, Girls Ranch, Permanent Supportive Housing and the Girls Leadership Academy of Arizona.
