Dish It Out Benefits Hungry Kids

It was party time on High Street in North Scottsdale as more than 3,000 guests enjoyed tastings of Valley restaurants and wineries, cooking demonstrations and live music at Dish It Out to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix.

The Oct. 23 evening featured food and drinks from more than 60 restaurant and beverage vendors, including Different Pointe of View, Bourbon & Bones, Caramel Addiction and The Herb Box. Chef Chris McKinley of The Local returned to the Dish It Out Cook-Off Competition as the 2015 reigning champion to compete against chefs Jason McGrath, Second Story Liquor Bar; Gio Osso, Virtu; and Gregory Wiener, The Buttes Marriott Resort.

Chef McKinley defended his title to become the 2016 Dish It Out Champion with a winning dish that consisted of farro risotto, melted leeks, charred baby carrots and roasted squash, served with a cashew and apricot brown butter.

The event netted more than $250,000 for the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix who depend on the clubs for meals, safety and opportunity. Last year, the funds raised at Dish It Out were used to provide 339,542 nutritious meals to hungry kids.
