Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Arizona Awards Dinner
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation held its Arizona Awards Dinner Sept. 10 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. The organization is the nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children, and the awards dinner raises money to support that mission. For the 2015-2016 academic year, more than 70 Arizona students received more than $240,000 in scholarship funding. Several of the students were present at the dinner.
Two awards were presented during the evening. Deborah G. Carstens received the Service of Self Award, and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community received the Semper Fidelis Award, which was accepted by President Delbert W. Ray Sr.
