Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center ‘Give Cancer the Boot’ at An Evening with the Friends
On March 5, 335 guests kicked up their heels and gave cancer the boot at The Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center’s 30th Anniversary Celebration of An Evening with the Friends. The Western-themed fundraising party was held at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch.
The evening included dining, dancing and shopping in an extensive silent auction that included items from 80 donors around the Valley. Award-winning speaker Rita Davenport kept the audience laughing in her role as mistress of ceremonies.
Enthusiastic bidding in the live auction helped raise the evening’s coffers. A trip for two to the CMA Awards in Nashville sold four times as did a trip for two to the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. Other items in the live auction included a private dining experience at The Henry and a custom-designed blush freshwater pearl necklace.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to fund early stage clinical trials at the University of Arizona Cancer Center at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
