Child & Family Resources Holds Signature Event in Phoenix

On Dec. 3, 70 guests attended Champions for Children & Families at the University Club in Phoenix. In its seventh year, the signature event for Child & Family Resources was held for the first time in Phoenix.

The organization honored Carmella Dodge with its Giving Heart Award, recognizing her tireless volunteering with its MCAP (Maricopa Center for Adolescent Parents). Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton received the Martha K. Rothman Lifetime Achievement Award for his years of service improving the lives of children and families in Arizona through education and empowerment.

Based in Tucson, Child & Family Resources serves nearly 15,000 families across the state each year, working in the home directly with the children and their parents to help them develop and learn, and to be prepared for school. Most of the families are low-income and/or come from dysfunctional or crisis backgrounds that provide no model for healthy families or parenting. Many of the children have some sort of developmental challenge as well.
