Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Raises $700K at Light the Night Walk
On Nov. 12, more than 7,500 walkers lit the night sky for cancer cures, raising more than $700,000 at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 17th Annual Greater Phoenix Light the Night Walk at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

The money raised will fund investments in life-saving cancer research, financial assistance to help cover patient expenses, free educational materials and advocacy efforts for better access to treatments.
“Getting together with 7,500 of your closest friends in a true spirit of community – and raising a lot of money – goes a long way toward bringing attention to the critical need to fund lifesaving research and support services for Arizona patients and their families,” said Jim Brewer, LLS Arizona Chapter executive director.
Participants enjoyed several family-friendly activities throughout the evening along with a patient-friendly one-walk walk and fireworks display. A special Celebration of Life ceremony was also held to remember lives lost to cancer.
Dr. Jonathan Abbas of Honor Health and corporate walk chair, provided volunteer leadership for the event, and for the fourth straight year, Gila River Casinos and United Food & Commercial Workers, Local #99, served as co-resenting sponsors.
