35th Annual ATHENA Awards Recipients Announced

Today, the Greater Phoenix Chamber announced the 2022 ATHENA private sector, public sector and young professional award recipients during its 35th Annual ATHENA Awards.

Delma Herrera, vice president of field sales, West region, at Cox Communications, was awarded the 2022 ATHENA Private Sector Award. Jennifer Caraway, the founder & executive director of The Joy Bus, earned the 2022 ATHENA Public Sector Award. Veronica Aguilar, vice president of Teach for America, received the 2022 ATHENA Young Professional Award.

“Spotlighting the women who are moving the Greater Phoenix area forward through the ATHENA Awards program is one of the Chamber’s proudest traditions,” said Todd Sanders, president & CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber. “These women make immeasurable contributions within their companies, their communities, and they are a driving force in making Arizona a top state in the nation.”

The ATHENA Awards, named after the Greek goddess of courage and wisdom, is a program of ATHENA International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women. The awards recognize outstanding Valley businesswomen in the public and private sectors who have demonstrated excellence in business and leadership, dedication to the community, and support and mentorship of other women.

Herrera, Caraway and Aguilar were chosen from among 11 ATHENA finalists, who were selected from a large group of nominees. Congratulations to all of the nominees, finalists and award recipients!
