Dinner Is Served! The Salvation Army Metro Phoenix serves 6,000 Christmas meals

The Salvation Army Metro Phoenix held its annual Christmas dinner event at the Phoenix Convention Center on Dec. 25, and between dine-in, pickup and home-delivered meals, more than 6,000 meals were provided to Valley neighbors.

Guests at the Convention Center also enjoyed free haircuts and nail service, music, family photos, games, gifts and photos with Santa.

“The Salvation Army is honored to put on this very special event each year,” said Major David Yardley, The Salvation Army Metro Phoenix program coordinator. “We are proud to serve, and it warms our hearts to see so many smiling faces on the day we celebrate the birth of Christ. We wish to thank the community partners and dedicated volunteers who helped make this event a huge success.”

From dinner prep starting a week before the event through post-event cleanup, more than 1,000 volunteers generously donated their time to make the event happen.

The Salvation Army has put on its annual Christmas dinner event for more than 20 years.
