Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is recruiting volunteers who wish to help the museum fulfill its role as the storyteller of the American West. Those with previous museum volunteer experience, or a background in education or Western studies, are especially encouraged to volunteer.

The museum’s docents lead tours of the exhibitions and tell the stories of the American West, including those of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The spring docent training courses will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on six consecutive Wednesdays, March 2 through April 6. Attendance at all six sessions is required of prospective docents.

Volunteers are also needed to welcome museum visitors, answer general questions and provide directions within the museum. Volunteers interested in providing administrative support are also encouraged to apply.

A minimum of two, three-hour sessions per month are required of volunteers.

Individuals interested in becoming docents should respond no later than Friday, February 26 online a thttps://scottsdalemuseumwest.org/support/volunteer/ or by contacting Education Manager Wade Weber at wweber@scottsdalemuseumwest.org or 480-686-9539, ext. 212.
