NM Trend: Ear Candy

Fall’s best-dressed ears will sport

showy huggies, jackets, crawlers

and cuffs.

What will we see – and want – to wear this fall?

Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus senior vice president and fashion director, has put together the retailer’s top trends for Fall 2015.

THE LIST

Overall, the feel of his list is a return to the ’70s. If you experienced the ’70s, you will understand this: fringe, embroidery and patterns, layers, wide-leg pants, CHUNKY heels, real and faux fur, the saddle bag, and fishnets and lace for the well-dressed leg. His color forecast – wintery whites as well as full-bodied reds – appears in fashions from elegant to bohemian, which he calls ‘folklorica.”

EAR CANDY

And, in keeping with the ’70s: ear candy. This season’s best-dressed ears will sport reflections of the showy adornments favored throughout ’70s. Only the 2015 trend turns upward instead of the downward direction of the often shoulder-sweeping earrings of the earlier era.

Popular for 2015 are huggies, jackets, crawlers and cuffs. These gems start at the lobe and curve upward, often

clipping onto the top of the ear.

From crystals to sapphires, here are looks to consider.

THE BACK STORY

Increasingly popular are earrings where much of the interest is in the back.

THE JACKET

A "jacket" can change the look of a simple stud, increasing its impact.

THE CUFF

Cuffs hug the ear the way a bracelet cuff hugs your wrist. Some also are held to the lobe by a post or clip.
