Spring Garden Tour

Heidi and Douglas Riggs share their desert garden with guests

Nancy Swanson, Barbara Ottosen and Tahnia McKeever co-chaired the Desert Botanical Garden’s Patrons Circle Spring Tour of Private Gardens on March 29. More than 200 Patrons Circle members and guests enjoyed viewing four extraordinary home gardens in the north Scottsdale area. The gardens range in size and stature, but each celebrates the beauty of the Sonoran Desert with unique and artfully displayed specimens.

Landscape architect Bill Tonnesen and architect Eddie Jones were on site to answer questions about each home and garden, including the selection of sculptures, some of which were made by Tonnesen himself. Lunch was prepared and served at the home of Heidi and Douglas Riggs and included fresh-baked rolls with orange butter, an assortment of spring salads and a fragrant iced tea with fresh basil.
