Dignity Health Run series kicks off with

Run FORE Cancer

As the first of four events in the Dignity Health Run Series, The Run FORE Cancer invites runners and walkers to compete in a 4.25K or 8.2K on the cart paths of Scottsdale’s beautiful Silverado Golf Club. The event starts 7:30 a.m., Sun., Sept. 21, and honors the legacy of Kathy Maxwell, who passed away in 2012 after losing her battle with sarcoma cancer. Maxwell co-founded In Celebration of Golf, a Scottsdale-based retail golf chain, with her husband, Roger.

Fun FORE Cancer stars and finishes at the Silverado clubhouse, 7605 E. Indian Bend Road, leading racers along the front nine holes for the 4.25 K distance or the full 18 holes for the 8.2K route. A portion of registration proceeds will be donated to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Barrow Neurological Institute in recognition of the excellent and compassionate care Maxwell received during her illness.

The Run FORE Cancer kick-starts the 2014-15 season of the Dignity Health Run Series, which also includes three other events benefitting hospital programs:

>> STRIDE FOR SPINES  Jan. 24, 2015, featuring a 10K and 5K run, along with a 1-mile Kids Dash, at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix

>> WALK THE FIGHT FOR PARKINSON’S  Feb. 7, 2015, a 5K run/walk and two-block fun walk at Tempe Beach Park

>> LAURA’S RUN  April 11, 2015, a 5K run, 1.5 fun walk, kids dash and doggie trot at Scottsdale Sports Complex

Entrants can register for single or multiple races, but save 20 percent by pre-registering for the entire series. Registration for the full series is $80 and includes a custom event finisher’s medal and T-shirt at each race, pre- and post-race “runner’s brunch” and real-time results and photos posted on StartLineRacing.com. Series participants receive 10 points for each event. Extra points are awarded to the top 10 finishers of each gender and top 5 finishers in each age group. The top 100 point earners will be entered into a Dignity Health drawing to win multiple prizes, including a VIP suite to a 2015 Arizona Diamondbacks game.
