MIMFest!

Inaugural global music weekend at the

Musical Instrument Museum a hit with all ages

The Musical Instrument Museum hosted its inaugural music festival, MIMFest, on Oct. 18 and 19. The weekend event featured more than 20 performances on three stages; a variety of local, street-style performances; delicious, globally inspired cuisine from 13 of the Valley’s best food trucks; and fun, family-friendly activities in the Kids’ Zone.

MIM’s inaugural music festival was a great success. From the beginning, our mission was to showcase music from around the globe and share the talents of world-renowned musical acts. MIMFest brought world-class artists from Ethiopia, Ireland, Cuba and beyond together with blues, bluegrass and Tex-Mex musicians from the U.S. It was a festive celebration that brought MIM’s mission and passion for music to life, and it was one more demonstration of how music can bring the disparate parts of the world together. And it was a big step in bringing Phoenix to the forefront of the global music scene,” said Lowell Pickett, artistic director for MIMFest.

“Many community members have already reached out to tell us how much they enjoyed this event, and we look forward to hosting more events that foster appreciation of diverse cultures through dynamic programming and exceptional musical performances.
