Dish It Out

First-year event nets $165,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix

More than 2,000 guests enjoyed three levels of restaurants and wineries, demonstrations, tastings and live music at the inaugural Dish It Out event to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix. The Oct. 5 evening at Salt River Fields included a fun competition among high-profile Valley chefs, with Chef Aaron May of The Lodge and Over Easy taking home the title of Dish It Out Champion. He nudged out tough competition from Chefs Christopher Gross (Christopher’s and Crush Lounge), James Porter (Petite Maison), and Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro, The Mission and House Brasserie). Chef Lester Gonzalez (Cowboy Ciao) did a demonstration on the Fox Sports Arizona Demo Stage.

Beth McDonald emceed the lively competition. Judges were Check, Please! Arizona’s Robert McGrath, Cupcake Wars winner/Urban Cookies owner Brady Breese, and Fox Sports and Diamondback’s announcer Mike “Jack” Bauer. Sub-Zero Wolf Southwest sponsored the main stage and kitchens.

All proceeds benefited the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix. Ralph Marchetta, general manager of US Airways Center, chaired the event.
