“Motown The Musical” is the true American dream story

of Motown founder Berry Gordy.

The Broadway musical is on stage at ASU Gammage this week. 

Motown The Musical tells the story of Gordy's founding and running of the Motown record label and his personal and professional relationships with Motown artists such as Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and many more. The musical shows how these legendary artists created the soundtrack that transformed America. 

The music and lyrics for the musical are taken from selections from the Motown catalog. Motown shattered barriers, shaped people's lives and made them all move to the same beat. Featuring over 40 classic songs such as My Girl and Ain't No Mountain High Enough, the public experiences the story behind the music in the record-breaking smash hit Motown The Musical. The musical premiered on Broadway in April 2013.
