Bursting at the Seams

Bentley Gallery showcases Jeremy Thomas's

bright inflated sculptures in this second solo exhibition

Bentley Gallery has been exhibiting Jeremy Thomas's sculptures since 2010. Bursting at the Seams is his second solo exhibition at the gallery. The title of the show references the work, both physically and metaphorically.

There have been changes to his work since his exhibition at Bentley Gallery last year. Sculptures are showing more than one color on a piece, some surfaces are unpainted and forms have evolved.

Thomas explains: "The color began to change when I began painting the pieces myself two years ago. I also introduced nickel as a surface and began using acrylic and other industrial paints, mostly silver and metallics. Last year I began the Cosmetic Series using nail lacquer on smaller pieces. There is a connection between the palette used in the cosmetic industry and the automobile industry, and I began using auto paint on the some of the larger pieces. I now use color from many different sources of industrial production. The titles of the pieces still reflect the paint sources."
