PHOENIX SYMPHONY'S OPENING NIGHT, SOLD-OUT PERFORMANCES

RECEIVE STANDING OVATIONS

 

The Phoenix Symphony welcomed Tito Muñoz as maestro with two sold-out performances of Carmina burana and Suite from “The Firebird,” at Symphony Hall. In addidtion, The Phoenix Symphony also sold out Sunday’s performance in Prescott.

Specialty cocktails “Tito-tinis” and “Tito Fortunas” were served to enthusiastic audiences who donned “It’s Tito Time” stickers.

“I could not be more thankful for the welcome I received from the community, Muñoz said. “I am excited to be a part of this world-class orchestra and a thriving Arizona.”

Representing longtime baseball supporters the Phoenix Suns, Director of Basketball Operations Lon Babby welcomed the audience to “Tito Time” on Fri., Sept. 8, and presented Muñoz with a personalized jersey. On Sat., Sept. 8, former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor welcomed Muñoz to the podium.

Valley arts supporters were on hand for a chairman’s reception with Muñoz as a special guest to celebrate the opening of a historic season.

Muñoz has garnered praise from both local and national press. The Arizona Republic noted that “He is young yet, and the Tito Muñoz era is just beginning.” And the Huffington Post wrote, “He is smart, precocious, full of energy, well-spoken and ready to hit the road running.”
