Chicanos Por La Causa Anniversary Dinner
Chicanos Por La Causa, the third largest nonprofit in the nation,
celebrated its 46th Anniversary Dinner on April 16.
Legacy of Achievement recipients: Ed Pastor, Dolores Huerta and Chapito Chavarria, represented by member of the Chapito Chavarria Orchestra
The organization honored three individuals committed to empowering and enriching the community through their distinguished service. The Legacy of Achievement Award was presented to Ed Pastor, the first Hispanic to be elected to Congress; Dolores Huerta, national labor and civil rights activist; and posthumously to Chapito Chavarria, Arizona music icon with a 90-year career.
The dinner and awards ceremony, presented by APS, drew 700 guests to the Arizona Biltmore. Guests enjoyed a music tribute from the Chapito Chavarria Orchestra and a performance by recording artist DeSoto.
The event serves as CPLC’s largest fundraising event to benefit CPLC programs and services.
