40 years of l’art de vivre

Roche Bobois, a world leader in high-end furniture design

and distribution, celebrates its 40-year presence in the U.S.

"Boundless creativity and an unerring focus on international growth help define Roche Bobois’ position as a truly global lifestyle brand: a brand that encapsulates the best of French style, craftsmanship and ‘art de vivre’," says CEO Gilles Bonan.

With 13 store openings in 2013 and 12 planned for 2014, the international dimension has never been bolder or more ambitious. Via its network of 250 showrooms in more than 45 countries, Roche Bobois has extended its distinctive French aesthetic, in all its diversity, to every corner of the world.

These are the values that have contributed to the success of Roche Bobois in the United States for 40 years. Since opening its first showroom in 1974 on Madison Avenue, Roche Bobois has attracted an ever-expanding American clientele through a network of 30 stores.

Backed by the originality of its design, the quality of its manufacturing and the extent of bespoke options, Roche Bobois is able to offer individual clients a design solution to suit their specific demands. This is made possible by a network of long-established European manufacturers whose specialist skills and techniques have been honed over generations – and also by longstanding partnerships with talented designers like Cédric Ragot, Ora Ito, Sacha Lakic, Christophe Delcourt and the duo of Roberto Tapinassi & Maurizio Manzoni, and with fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel Maison and Missoni Home. These special relationships enable Roche Bobois to venture farther in its quest for excellence – and to maintain its position at the forefront of trends in interior design.

To celebrate its 40th year of presence in the United States, Roche Bobois is revisiting a few masterpieces. See below.

l Seventies Chic

70s

The wall unit’s clean lines dialog

harmoniously with the tailored yet

cozy silhouette of the Lobby sofa,

the geometrical shapes of the

G3 cocktail table

and oh so '70s of nest tables,

blending into a sleek and chic

'70s ambiance.

    Saddle leather. Outside

  upholstered in Trendy wool.

 Seat and backrest in high

density foam. "Gun metal" varnished cradle-style base.

l Seventies Pop

70s

Lower seats, relaxed forms, bright colors of pop:

all revolutionary ideas that defined a decade

and introduced a new way of living. The Dromadaire

modular designed in 1974 symbolizes this notion

of comfort without conformity that has become

Roche Bobois’ trademark over the past four decades.

Drawing on these values, 2014 sees the introduction

of Sacha Lakic’s playful modern Bubble sofa

BUBBLE

design by Sacha Lakic,

2014

This new design brings to mind a basket of balloons

into which one can imagine throwing oneself.

Tight and well-rounded, and entirely made by hand,

it is available in three colors and has the option

of a matching footstool. Its creation necessitated

the development of an entirely new fabric,

with the special feature of stretching in both directions.

This exclusive fabric is made up of a black jersey,

guaranteed to hold its shape,

onto which is applied a honeycomb wool

with an incredibly soft feel.

Sofas upholstered in

 Techno 3D fabric (exclusive to

  Roche Bobois). Completely

  hand-made. Bi-density structured

  foam seat and backrests. Solid

 wood frame.
