Gertrude’s Hires New Chef

Gertrude’s has a new executive chef. Matt Taylor is departing Market Street Kitchen to take the helm at the Desert Botanical Garden’s full-service restaurant starting March 4.

Skip Hause, owner of Fabulous Food Fine Catering & Events and operator of Gertrude’s, could not be happier. “Matt’s list of accolades is amazing,” Hause says. “Gertrude’s first year was extraordinary and having Matt’s innovative style and reputation with Modern American Cuisine ensures Gertrude’s fare will continue to impress.”

Taylor has worked with top chefs like James Beard winners Bradford Thompson, and Robert McGrath and celebrity chef Michael Mina. He has also been at the helm of top local restaurants like Metro Brasserie and NOCA.

Taylor believes the Garden’s signature eatery has the potential to become one of Arizona’s iconic restaurants.

Gertrude’s offers indoor and patio dining, a private chef’s room for 12 and an expansive bar. Reservations for lunch and dinner are suggested and can be made on open Table.
