Fiesta Bowl Charities 2019-2020 Grant Cycle Applications Open

Building on its record levels of charitable giving, Fiesta Bowl Charities has officially opened its 2019-20 grant cycle application period for Arizona nonprofits to submit applications for funding. Organizations can submit their application through the Fiesta Bowl Website from now until May 7 at 5:00 p.m.

The Fiesta Bowl organization donates more in charitable giving than any other college football bowl game and this season will build on $12.5 million given to over 300 Arizona nonprofits in the last eight years.

“I love seeing how each nonprofit puts its funds into action. From building playgrounds to laying new turf in communities, we have seen some impressive projects and look forward to going through each application again this year,” said Patrick Barkley, Chair of the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors. “We are very proud of where our level of funding is and look to continue to impact the state through youth, sports and education is our ultimate goal.”

Fiesta Bowl Charities is excited to launch new levels of funding and will accept applications that meet three funding levels: Spirit of the Fiesta Bowl Grant at $100,000, Touchdown Grant at $50,000 and the Field Goal Grant at $25,000. All proposals must provide services within the Fiesta Bowl’s core pillars of youth, sports and education and all applicants must be an Arizona 501©(3) organization. Additionally, 100 percent of the organization’s project must serve residents within the Arizona geographic boundaries.

The new funding model allows Fiesta Bowl Charities to make a larger impact through each organization granted, focusing on the depth of the impact. In addition, smaller Fiesta Bowl Charites grants are available for nonprofits who have funding needs that arise during the year, with the guidelines posted at FiestaBowl.org/Charities.

“We are excited about the new focus, which is to invest more, and in a powerful and meaningful way that allows nonprofits to think big with their projects,” said Mike Nealy, Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl. “Charitable giving is core to the Fiesta Bowl mission, as all we do throughout the year with our events and games helps us build a base that we donate back to the community.”

Each application will be individually reviewed by the Fiesta Bowl Charities Charitable Giving Committee.  The Fiesta Bowl Charities Charitable Giving Committee is a 21-person group comprised of the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors, Yellow Jacket Committee members, Ambassadors and staff. The announcement of charitable giving recipients will come in August.
