Phoenix Chamber Music Society Celebrates 56th Season

The Phoenix Chamber Music Society kicks off its

2015/16 concert season and 7th Winter Festival.

A staple of the Phoenix arts community, the Phoenix Chamber Music Society has consistently attracted world-class chamber music ensembles to sold-out audiences across the Valley since 1961. This year is no exception, featuring 15 performances by some of the most talented chamber music artists in the world.

What to expect this season?

This season brings:

The 2015/16 seven-concert subscription series at Camelback Bible Church featuring performances by renowned national and international chamber music artists such as The Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Ying Quartet, David Finkel and Wu Han, The Dover Quartet, the Modigliani Quartet, Musicians from Marlboro and more.

The Phoenix Chamber Music Society's 7th Winter Festival including eight ancillary concerts which honor chamber music's tradition of intimacy and accessibility by taking place in unique and personal venues across the Valley, including the Phoenix Art Museum's Whiteman Hall, Desert Botanical Garden, ASU's Kerr Cultural Center, Taliesin West, and private homes. The Winter Festival is led by celebrated clarinetist and Artistic Director David Shifrin, and features a variety of performances, from beloved works by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, to more rare works by contemporary composers.

The intense passion  and intimacy of chamber music played by the most

renowned musicians in the world draws people of all ages and walks

of life to the Phoenix Chamber Music Society concerts.

Starting from just under $30 a concert with a subscription series, or $40

a concert for an individual ticket, you can enjoy some of the best musicians

on the planet performing some of the most deeply moving and

beautiful music you can imagine.

Taiwanese-American pianist Wu Han

A commitment to music education in the community

The Phoenix Chamber Music Society has a deep connection and commitment to music education in the community. As many schools have cut or even eliminated their music education programs, each year the Society enables the world-class musicians who perform with them to dedicate their time and talents to provide master classes, performances, Q&A sessions and individual feedback to local students at ASU and at schools across the Valley.

More than six guest artists and ensembles are scheduled to assist in these efforts during the 2015/16 season. The Society continues to increase its music education efforts year after year, and this season brings the addition of services to after school programs for youth from economically disadvantaged families, such as Rosie's House in Central Phoenix. All Phoenix Chamber Music Society education initiatives are funded entirely by donations.

The teaching artists sponsored by The Phoenix Chamber Music Society have

enthralled, captivated, and inspired our students at Arizona School for the Arts

to reach for new levels of musicianship and artistry. We are so thrilled that

our partnership will be continuing in the 2015/16 season, and we are particularly

looking forward to the masterclass with the incomparable Wu Han!

Maria Simiz, Arizona School for the Arts Low-Strings instructor
