Turkey Donations Needed: Donate Tomorrow at Albertson’s, Safeway

St. Mary’s Food Bank Also Accepting Donations Until Friday, Nov. 27; Desert Financial to Match Every Turkey Donation Made

More than 12,000 Valley families are in need of a turkey for their Thanksgiving tables next Thursday, and St. Mary’s Food Bank is calling on the community to help make it happen. Community members don’t have to do it all themselves, however, because Desert Financial Credit Union has committed to matching every turkey donated between now and 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, with one of its own.

“We have had a slow start in our turkey donations this year, and this wonderful gift from Desert Financial Credit Union gives us a real chance at reaching our goals of making Thanksgiving special for Arizonans in need,” said St. Mary’s President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Kertis. “We expect more than 12,000 families to visit the food bank in the three days leading up to Thanksgiving, and this amazing donation will help make sure as many as possible have a turkey as the centerpiece of their holiday meal.”

To donate a turkey and have Desert Financial match it, stop by Valley Safeway and Albertson’s stores between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, or drop off a donation at St. Mary’s food bank before 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27.
