8th Annual Independent Woman Luncheon
New York-based international designer Amy Lau spoke to a full house at Phoenix Art Museum on Jan. 30 at the eighth annual Independent Woman Luncheon. Lau, who grew up in Paradise Valley, shared her design inspiration as well as images and commentary on some of her most recent award-winning projects.
The theme for the occasion was Kaleidoscope The Art of Contrast, reflecting Lau’s use of the bright hues for which she is known. Following a social hour, the 600 guests enjoyed lunch at tables topped with graphic black-and-white tablecloths provided by Kravet. Each table was unique, compliments of 59 local designers who created imaginative designs for each. The tables were available for purchase by guests in a silent auction, helping increase the money raised for the museum. The gluten-free vegetarian luncheon menu was created by Santa Barbara Catering.
Interior designer Matthew Boland, owner of Main Dish in Scottsdale, chaired the event. Amy Cohn was the honorary chair, and Kathy Petsas was the designer chair. The Independent Woman Luncheon was founded in 2011 by Ellen Katz.
