Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships Announces New Additions for 2019 Event

Posted By on June 11, 2019

What do the United States military, Nacho Figueras, The Royal County Berkshire Polo Club and the tango all have in common? This year they are just a few of the new elements fans will see taking center stage at the “best polo event in the world,” the 2019 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships.

Now entering its 9th year, polo week begins October 31 with a Player’s Reception for all ticket purchasers taking place at Legacy Gallery during the Thursday night Scottsdale Art Walk.

The 2019 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships gates open on November 2 at WestWorld of Scottsdale at 10:00 a.m. with a military match kicking off the festivities, featuring the U.S. Air Force vs U.S. Marines, made possible by Safeway Albertson’s. The match followed by fan favorite Centtrip Wales Polo Team, which takes on the Arizona Polo Club for the first time.

The third and featured match up of the day brings the reigning champs Aspen Valley Polo Team back to the desert with superstar Nacho Figueras and team captain Melissa Ganzi behind the reins. Aspen Valley will take on The Royal County Berkshire Polo Club, which is making its first appearance in Arizona. Prince Charles was the organization’s first member.

In the final match of the day the Arizona Equine Rescue will compete against Southwest Wildlife in a charity match that has a $10,000 purse to the winning charity, sponsored by EPR Polo LLC.

Fans can also enjoy The Polo Party’s signature events within the event like the Canine Couture Dog Fashion Show, the World’s Longest Catwalk Fashion Show presented by Phoenix Fashion Week, a halftime Rugby match, a preview of 2020 Barrett-Jackson’s World’s Greatest Car Collector Auction and halftime performances by the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.

General Admission tickets start at $30 and includes field-side experiences like the Sanderson Lincoln Black Label Lounge and several other DJ-infused party tents courtesy of the Scottsdale-based Riot Hospitality Group, including Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row and Riot House.

“The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships continue to grow and exceed our expectations,” said Beli Merdovic of Bentley Scottsdale. “This year we are thrilled to give fans nearly a week of polo events. From polo clinics and private VIP meet and greets with the star players and sponsors, to an action packed Saturday, there is something for everyone this year. We are thrilled to kickoff what will truly be our best year yet.”
