Noche en Havana Raises More Than $1 Million in Support of Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Phoenix Children’s Hospital transported guests to a “Noche en Havana” for its 25th annual Beach Ball, which took place at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa earlier this month.
Attendees dressed to theme in colorful attire including flowered head dresses, wraps and fedoras and elaborate photo displays allowed supporters to snap photos to commemorate the special evening. A stellar silent auction lined the entrance allowing everyone a variety of opportunities to support the cause.
Celebrity emcees Mac and Gaydos from KTAR led the evening’s program and event co-chairs Larissa Hoss and Jami Gray delivered an engaging presentation. Paul and Amy Goldshmidt were honored for their significant time and contributions to the organization, receiving the Dr. Herbert J. & Jule Louis Spirit of Hope Award.
The event raised more than $1.3 million to support the Hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit which provides care to the most critically ill babies.
“The most vulnerable patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital are in our NICU. These babies require the most critical, life-saving care,” said Steve Schnall, senior vice president and chief development officer for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. “Beach Ball’s philanthropic contribution will impact families who come to our NICU from all over the Southwest, for years to come.”
APS served as the presenting sponsor as well as local companies of Berkshire Hathaway Energy – BHE Renewables, Long Realty and BHE U.S. Transmission. Additional sponsors included Discount Tire Company, American Airlines, Arizona Diamondbacks, CBRE, Ensemble Real Estate Solutions, Ernst & Young, HKS, Inc, Kitchen Sink Studios, MRA Associates, Maker’s Mark, Sodexo, Squire Patton Boggs, University of Phoenix and WSP.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only children’s hospital recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals with rankings in all ten specialties. The annual Beach Ball is a driving factor behind the hospital’s ongoing success and provides a way for Valley residents to gather and celebrate this important institution.
