Organist David Higgs to Perform in Phoenix
American concert organist David Higgs will perform at Music at Trinity’s fourth annual Helen Peel Memorial Organ Concert on Saturday, January 21 at Trinity Cathedral.
David Higgs performs across the country and internationally and has been the chair of the organ department at the Eastman School of Music since 1992 and was recently awarded the Eisenhart Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and previously served as a member of its faculty.
The concert program will include “Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H” by Franz Liszt, “Sonata in C minor/Scherzetto” by Percy Whitlock, “Trois Impressions Op. 72, No. 1/Harmonies du soir” by Sigfrid Karg-Elert, “Variations sur un Noel” by Marcel Dupré, “Sweet Sixteenths: a concert rag for organ” by William Albright, and “Suite for Organ, Op 5” by Maurice Duruflé.
Music at Trinity was founded in 2010 as the musical outreach arm of Phoenix’s Trinity Cathedral. It sponsors a wide range of artists and musical programs and hosts a variety of artists including local and internationally recognized performers.
