McDowell Sonoran Conservancy Names New Executive Director

McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, a nonprofit that works to promote and protect 30,000 acres of Scottsdale’s Sonoran Desert, has named Justin Owen its new executive director effective January 1, 2018.
 
Owen previously served as the executive director of Phoenix Pride, where he oversaw the production of two of Arizona’s largest public LGBTQ community events — the Phoenix Pride Parade and Festival. He also oversaw the organization’s fundraising, issue advocacy and outreach efforts.
 
He also has previous experience with the Walt Disney Company, Kuoni Destination Management and Special Olympics Southern California.
 
Owen has also been an active community volunteer for over two decades, is a certified nonprofit accounting professional and currently serves a commissioner on the Phoenix Human Relations Commission under an appointment by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.
