Bank of America will invest $605,000 into Phoenix nonprofits including Dress for Success Phoenix, ICM Food and Clothing Bank and nine others. The organizations are being recognized for their work in providing basic needs such as food security and housing, empowering women and young adults to achieve economic independence and contributing to the economic and social progress in the Phoenix area.

“These nonprofits are being recognized for their transformational work, strengthening the economic health and vibrancy of Phoenix as a place where people want to live and do business,” said Bank of America Phoenix market president Benito Almanza. “By supporting organizations that are creating innovative solutions to the issues we face around basic needs, community development and neighborhood revitalization, we are arming our community leaders with the ability to grow their unique initiatives to better the city of Phoenix.”

Dress for Success Phoenix and ICM Food and Clothing Bank have been selected as 2017 Neighborhood Builders, a unique program that provides each organization with a combination of $200,000 in flexible funding, leadership development training for two leaders in the organization, a nationwide network of peer organizations and the opportunity access capital to expand their impact.

“Dress for Success Phoenix is honored to be awarded the prestigious Neighborhood Builders Grant in our community,” said Dress for Success Phoenix CEO and executive director Lisa Doromal. “Our goal for the next two years is to touch 1,000 high school students and young adults who will not be able to attend college, offering them critical job readiness skills and teach our ‘Professionalism in the Workplace’ curriculum through our beautiful Mobile Career Center. We sincerely thank our local Bank of America for this generous gift which will allow us to serve more women in our community.”

Dress for Success Phoenix provides women with professional attire, networking opportunities and career services. With the grant, the organization will be able to expand its mobile career unit and Fast Track to Success program, which provides young adults with job readiness services to successfully enter the workforce.

“This support from Bank of America will allow ICM to serve our very low-income clients on a higher level,” said ICM Food and Clothing Bank executive director Renea Gentry. “Last year ICM reached 148,000 individuals, but we are about at capacity for growth. Thanks to BofA, we can spread ourselves further with more complete assistance.”

ICM Food and Clothing Bank provides clothing, food, education and assistance to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency. The grant will allow the organization to launch a federally qualified health center and children’s nutrition program.

Grants will also be provided to ACCION New Mexico, Arizona Housing Alliance, Arizona Housing Inc., Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, Local Initiatives Selection Committee, Newtown Community Development Corporation, Save the Family Foundation of Arizona, Trellis and UMOM New Day Centers.
