PHX-Based Salvation Army Deploys Staff, Supplies to Las Vegas

The Salvation Army Southwest Division, based in Phoenix, has deployed 20 officers, 12 employees and about a dozen more volunteers on-site for the effort.
“We have mobilized our Southern Nevada corps officers to area hospitals to offer emotional and spiritual care, and we are providing food and hydration from an Emergency Disaster Services mobile canteen for people waiting to donate blood at a United Blood Services location,” said Lt. Col. Kelly Pontsler, Salvation Army Southwest divisional commander. “We are also working with local first responders to determine other ways in which we can help.”
Led by Captain Raymond Dihle, head of Southwest Division Emergency Disaster Services, the Salvation Army team is on its way to Las Vegas to assist with the ongoing efforts.
“We ask that everyone please pray for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives or were injured, as well as the first responders and Salvation Army officers and employees who are serving and ministering to the community,” said Lt. Col. Pontsler. “We are grateful for the outpouring of support from people who want to help. It’s because of generous donors that The Salvation Army has been able to provide services to people in need for over 150 years.”
