Star Chefs to Shine at Phoenix James Beard Event


The James Beard Foundation’s Fifth Anniversary Taste America will begin at the newly opened Mountain Shadows resort in Phoenix September 21 through 23.
The main event of the weekend is A Night of Culinary Stars, an exclusive dining event benefiting the James Beard Foundation. The dinner will be prepared by Taste America All-Star Traci, Des Jardins, and Local Star, Nobuo Fukuda, and co-chaired by Honorary Chair, Bill Nassikas, President and COO, Westroc Hospitality, whose father was a personal friend of James Beard.
The evening will begin with a reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from local chefs and restauranteurs such as Aaron Chamberlin of St. Francis and Dustin Christofolo of Quiessence and dessert will be provided by local eateries such as Tammie Coe of Tammie Coe Cakes. The emcee for the evening will be CBS news anchor, Sean McLaughlin.
The event will kick off on September 21 with a welcome reception at Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend at The Yard. Participating chefs will attend the event to meet and greet guests.
The event will culminate with a free in-store event at Sur La Table in Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. Activities will include cooking demonstrations by All-Star Traci Des Jardins and chef Chris Bianco, book signings, tastings and product demonstrations.
Other stops on the Taste of America Culinary Tour include Austin, Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle
