Salvation Army Goal: 12K Backpacks for Schoolkids

The Salvation Army has partnered with Fry’s Food Stores, Bank of Arizona, American Express, 99.9 KEZ and Fox10 Phoenix to provide children with backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year.
“Every year, our communities generously donate vital school supplies for kids in need,” said Major Nancy Dihle, The Salvation Army Valley of the Sun City Coordinator. “Our goal this year is to collect 12,000 backpacks and 400,000 items that will help students be successful this school year.”
These organizations are collecting backpacks, pencils, scissors, paper, rulers, glue and much more at all Fry’s Food Stores in Arizona as well as all Bank of Arizona locations in the Phoenix metro area, with the goal of providing 12,000 students with supplies this year.
The drive kicked off on July 10 at a Phoenix Fry’s location by providing a dozen children with backpacks filled with supplies.
The Salvation Army, which was established over 150 years ago, supports approximately 125 million Americans each year by helping the hungry, disabled, elderly, ill and homeless as well as underprivileged children and disaster victims.
