The Heard Is Lone Stop in North America for Exhibit of Frida Kahlo Paintings

The Heard Museum debuted the “Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection” on April 29 with an event in the museum’s Central Courtyard.
Heard Museum director and CEO David M. Roche, U.S. Trust/Bank of America director Chris Kelly, and PetSmart CEO Michael Massey spoke about the importance of the exhibit to the museum and to the community. This collection is especially significant to the community as Phoenix is the only North American stop on the exhibit’s tour.
The 600-person event featured music by Mariachi Pasion, DJ Carl Hanni, Carlos Rivas Mex-Sal and guitarist Miguel de Maria as well as margaritas and Mexican cuisine from Aventura.
Attendees can look forward to enjoying 33 paintings by Frida Khalo, Diego Rivera and four other Mexican artists – 72 photos capturing the life of the artists and a handmade Oaxacan clothing collection.
The exhibit will be on display at the Heard Museum in the Virginia G. Piper Grand Gallery until August 20. Details: heard.org
