Frontdoors Five: Pre-Heat Checklist
Summer and its 100 degree temperatures are going to be here before you know it. Before the heat sets in, here are a few fun things you can do to prepare for the warmer weather ahead and to enjoy the final weeks of spring.
- Take a hike: Whether it’s Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak, take the opportunity to enjoy some desert beauty before it gets too hot to be outside after 6 a.m.
- Buy a bathing suit: Pool season is here and the last thing you want is to be caught off guard for your first backyard BBQ invite of the year.
- Re-think your happy hour strategy: There are few things better than a patio happy hour — but it’s time to find new (shaded) spots. We recommend Crudo and Culinary Dropout for spots with interiors as cool as their drink specials.
- Scout out new ice cream locations: Ice cream becomes a food group in itself once the temperature rises above 110 degrees — so having a variety of options is key. Some of our favorites include Creamistry and Baked Bear.
- Visit Bird Cloud Island: Scottsdale Public Art and artist, Koryn Woodward Wasson have transformed the Gallery at Civic Center Library into a family-friendly resort hotel filled with activities centered around getting families out of the heat, like a birdhouse building workshop and a mask-making craft session. Opens May 11.
