2019 Barrow Grand Ball Raises $5.2M
The Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation netted in excess of $5.2 million for Barrow Neurological Institute through the 2019 Barrow Grand Ball. More than 350 guests attended the Jan. 26 black-tie soiree at the Arizona Biltmore, where tables were elegantly decorated by White House Design Studio.
As part of the annual fundraising effort, the Women’s Board chooses a special project for collective support. This year, they selected the Barrow Innovation Center. It was created to educate budding doctors on how to develop medical innovations that solve the problems they encounter as they serve patients. In addition, this year’s funds also support other critical areas of Barrow research, such as Alzheimer’s, aneurysm, brain tumor, headache, Parkinson’s, spinal disorder and stroke.
This year, the Women’s Board secured the donation of a 2015 Petty’s Garage Stage 2 Ford Mustang GY from Joe Anderson, proprietor of Benovia Winery in Sonoma County, Calif. The car was auctioned for $100,000 at the 2019 Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale.
Dionne Najafi and Terry Roman co-chaired the ball. The Women’s Board, led by chairwoman Robyn Lee, has supported Barrow Neurological Institute for more than 54 years and contributed more than $61 million to fund life-changing research.
