Annual ‘Wig Out’ Gala Helps Cancer Patients in Fun Way

Don’t Be a Chump! Check for a Lump’s 7th Annual Wig Out Gala provided some comic relief surrounding a serious subject. The local nonprofit dedicated to furthering the fight against breast cancer raised more than $50,000 for area breast cancer battlers and survivors through its hair-raising, 70s-themed DYN-O-MITE fundraiser, and guests were invited to don their grooviest faux-hairpieces in honor of the occasion.
Launched by local breast cancer survivor Holly Rose, Don’t Be a Chump! Check for a Lump provides comprehensive breast cancer education services, prevention programs and free mammograms to Arizona women while helping those affected by providing them with free wigs.
To date, the nonprofit has helped nearly 900 women undergoing chemotherapy find free wigs in their time of need (at a current rate of nearly one women every day!) and helped nearly 50 women take charge of their health through providing free mammograms and related diagnostic testing services.
The money raised by generous donors at 2017’s Wig Out event will continue to help combat breast cancer in the state by helping Don’t Be a Chump! Check for a Lump provide critical, life-saving services for thousands of Arizona women affected by this deadly disease.
