Phoenix Rescue Mission Hosts Inaugural Hot Chicken Throw Down to Aid Homeless

Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Code:Red Summer Heat Relief Campaign hosted its inaugural “Hot Chicken” Throw Down last month to raise money to help Arizona’s homeless population — who don’t get a break from the summer’s sweltering heat.
The battle of the best “Hot Chicken” featured top Valley chefs who competed in front of a panel of local celebrity judges at High & Rye. Brent Kille from Low Key Dining won “Best Hot Chicken in AZ” and Justine Dachel with Jewel’s Bakery & Café won “People’s Choice.”
Community members and supporters attended to view the competition and donate a case of water to the cause.
The contest was one of more than 130 drives that contributed to Phoenix Rescue Mission’s efforts to aid the homeless population this summer.
