Light the Night Walk

Setting an ambitious goal to break the $1 million mark, the annual Light the Night event, hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, is expected to dazzle participants this year.
Opening registration this month and inviting sponsors to participate, the Light the Night event for the Greater Phoenix area brings together the community, volunteers, survivors and their families for a powerful night of celebration and awareness toward someday finding a cure for blood cancers. In FY15, LLS distributed $1.25 million in FY15 in financial and co-pay assistance in Arizona.
“We set the goal of $1 million because the community support for Light the Night continues to grow each year,” said Executive Director, Jim Brewer. “As more individuals become aware of the difference we’re making in Arizona or personally know someone who has been impacted by a blood cancer, the join our cause to raise funds and come together. We’re looking forward to another great year at Light the Night.”
Light The Night Walk will be full of music, entertainment and inspiration with walkers carrying illuminated lanterns in three colors: white lanterns are carried by survivors; red lanterns by supporters; gold ones are carried by walkers who are walking in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. Together, they are set to light up the dark sky.
This year’s Light The Night in Greater Phoenix will be held at Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix on Saturday, November 5, 2016. It will take place between 5 p.m. with the grand finale of fireworks at 7 p.m.
Individuals and businesses can participate in several ways. Walkers can raise funds and participate as an individual or on a team with friends, family and co-workers. Companies, local businesses and individuals can become sponsors or partners and receive benefits and exposure in the local community. Volunteers are also needed to run the event.
