In the Bag: Dry Skin Rescue

It only takes a few degrees dip in the weather for skin to start to feel dry. Here are a few simple steps to keep skin soft and smooth during the cooler months ahead.

1. EXFOLIATE  Exfoliate two to three times a week. The best lotions on the market won’t be able to hydrate your skin if you haven’t wiped away the older skin cells. Try Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. It’s not too harsh and smells sweetly of almond.

2. MOISTURIZE  After you have exfoliated, apply a  heavier lotion or body butter immediately after your shower when your pores are still open (and skin is still damp). This will enable the lotion to penetrate deeper within the skin. Try Kate Somerville Body Rescue Cream. This luxurious lotion not only helps heal dry and damaged skin but also contains anti-aging properties.

3. HYDRATE  Just as in summer, load up on water. Drinking water increases blood flow to the skin, which may improve your complexion while keeping your skin soft. Try to drink eight glasses a day. To make it even more enjoyable, create your own spa water by adding lemon, lime, cucumber or mint.
