The Ballet Thing
About 300 supporters of Ballet Arizona attended a festive evening of dance, dining and celebrating to preview a performance of “Play,” artistic director Ib Andersen’s evening-length work composed of seven ballets set to the music of Mozart, Schubert, Britten and Stravinsky. An additional 200 guests attended the ballet portion of the evening.
The evening began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by the performance and dinner. Later, guests had an opportunity to hit the dance floor with dancers from the ballet company.
Carol Schilling, Sharron Lewis and Jacquie Dorrance co-chaired the event.
Proceeds from the evening will support the New York City debut of “Play” at the Joyce Theater, Feb. 22 to Feb. 26. Tickets for the New York performances are on sale now.
