Supreme Evening of Statehood

About 300 guests attended the O'Connor House fundraising dinner at the Arizona Biltmore on March 9. The evening served as a tribute to Arizona’s Centennial and recognized the Hon. Gabrielle Giffords with the National Award for Civic Leadership. Giffords’ mother, Gloria, accepted the award on her behalf.

Elva Coor and the Hon. Hugh Hallman were also honored for their contributions to O’Connor House, as was Paula Hilby.

Irene Burnton, the new president and CEO of the O’Connor House, spoke, as did Terry and Steve Roman and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

Students from the Arizona State University Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts performed a show, directed by Toby Yatso, ASU student faculty, and written by Michael Barnard to commemorate the Centennial.

William McArdle, Avant-Garde, created the décor for the room and tables. Terry and Steve Roman chaired the event.
