Celebrity Fight Night was held April 12, 2014, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa. Stars and athletes gathered to celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary and raise money for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix as well as several other charities. The event raised $8 million this year, and has raised $95 million over 20 years. Celebrity Fight Night was founded by Jimmy Walker.
Grammy Award-winning country music star Reba McEntire returned for her ninth year as emcee and announced that Celebrity Fight Night would become international, celebrating its next event in Italy. The Phoenix Boys Choir kicked off the night with the National Anthem. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Billy Crystal presented the 2014 Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night Award to international superstar Michael Bublé, actor Robert De Niro and philanthropist John Paul DeJoria.
Following the awards, The Band Perry, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Dunn, Caroline Kole, Jonathan Antoine and Michael Bublé performed. Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer returned for his 15th consecutive year as the evening’s musical director.
The black-tie evening included a silent auction, dinner and live auction. The live auction featured a space flight experience. The two highest selling live auction items were a private dinner at the home of Reba McEntire and a special evening featuring dinner with Robert De Niro, Billy Crystal and Joe Torre at De Niro’s Locanda Verde in New York. Each dinner was sold twice for $500,000.
