Symphony Chairman’s Reception

The Phoenix Symphony’s Annual Chairman’s Reception kicked off Opening Night weekend Sept. 18 at the offices of Squire Patton Boggs. Virginia G. Piper Music Director Tito Muñoz, President and CEO Jim Ward, Mayor Greg and Nicole Stanton and Phoenix Symphony Board of Directors Chair John Graham met with Phoenix Symphony board members and supporters to celebrate Maestro Tito Muñoz’s second season.

While guests enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres, Muñoz discussed his vision for this season, which is infused with young American composers like Adam Schoenberg, who was present at the reception and whose piece American Symphony was performed at Opening Night.

After the reception, guests made their way to Symphony Hall for Opening Night, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Before the concert began, John Graham dedicated the evening to Jane and Mal Jozoff, long-time supporters of the Symphony. Both Friday and Saturday’s concerts completely sold out and led to a record-breaking Opening Night weekend for the Symphony.
