More ER Space for Phoenix Children’s
Every year, thousands of children pile into the emergency room of Phoenix Children’s Hospital seeking care for everything from a mild case of flu to brain trauma.
The children’s hospital struggled in past years to find room for the less-acute cases during winter months when flu season peaks. Wait times swelled. Sick kids were treated in the hospital’s hallways.
But as the influenza season begins this year, the hospital has an expanded emergency room with space to treat more than 65,000 children seeking emergency care.
